Okay, I'm not in college anymore (nor do I wish to be), but I just got back from what I'm calling my spring break. After these short, dark, and cold days of winter, I hit a point where I felt uninspired, unmotivated, and just waiting for spring. I think we all have these feelings, especially if we live in seasonal climates. Don't get me wrong, I love having my seasons, but winter just takes a toll on you. That's why when my girl friends asked me if I wanted to go to Miami, Florida with them over spring break I thought to myself: um, duh? I needed to make this happen. One of my goals for 2017 is to travel, so this was the perfect opportunity.

The anticipation and planning of this trip definitely helped make these last few weeks of winter go by easier. Knowing that I would be be in paradise for five days lingered over me and got me feeling super excited. Since I like to be organized on trips I spent some time researching restaurants and coffee shops (especially veggie and vegan friendly places), shopping for travel gear and new clothes, and planning outfits and photo shoots. When it came to being just a week before leaving, I was feeling overwhelmed that it was so soon! Did I have everything I needed? Did I research everything? Was I ready to fly for the first time since I was a baby? Yes, the only time I've ever been on an airplane was when my dad was in the military and we lived in Europe. I was just a year or so old.
After a 6 a.m. flight and landing around 8:30 am, we were exhausted and just chilled by the hotel pool our first day and you can already tell that I got a little tan. This outfit is from the next day which we spent at the beach. I kept it simple and casual with a pair of thrifted denim shorts, a loose white-shirt that I tied into a knot, and white slide sandals that I wore for most of the trip. Slides are not only comfortable and stylish, but also super practical for slipping in and out of, especially at the beach. Our hotel was also less than a 5 minute walk from the ocean, which was super convenient for outfit changes, potty breaks, or if we forgot anything we needed.

I've never been to Florida before and Miami is just gorgeous! When we boarded the plane in Baltimore it was around 30 degrees. When we arrived at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, it was 78 degrees. Homegirl was living a dream.
Bikini is from ASOS. Unfortunately the bottoms are sold out, but there are still a few sizes left in the top! I got this suit last summer on my trip to Dewey Beach. I love that ASOS carries a range of swimsuit for DD+ sizes, because I have such a hard time finding bathing suit tops that are cute, actually fit me, and are affordable.
The trip was wonderful and the weather was perfect. Not too hot, although there were some chilly nights and I had wish I packed more pants! I am so tan now and even got a little sun burnt on my nose, of all places.
I have over a thousand photos from this trip, so I will be doing my best to break them up into different posts and try not to overwhelm you. Although, travel photos are probably more interesting than real life photos, am I right?
Now that I'm back trying to adjust to my normal everyday routines and heading back to work (ugh), I can't help but feel incredibly grateful that I was able to go on this trip. Growing up, my family didn't take week long vacations and the first time I had a true beach experience was a few years ago in Atlantic City. I've always been a lover of exploring new places, although I've been quite confined to my home state of Pennsylvania. That's why one of my big goals this year is to travel and see new places, have new experiences, and see what the world has to offer. You could say that I now have the travel bug and absolutely love flying. I'm already thinking about where my next trip will be. Any suggestions?
