Ah trends, they come and go and come back again. I tend to keep a pretty basic wardrobe, but I like dabble in a good trend or two. One that I've been loving lately: cropped flared jeans. We're seeing them all over Instagram and Pinterest, so I wanted to share some style tips if you wanted to try them too!
Shop the Look
It's funny how flared jeans used to be super cool when I was a kid and once I hit high school and ~discovered fashion~ they became the bane of my existence. Now that they've returned in a more flattering and chic style, I'm totally on board.
1. DIY an Old/Used Pair
The great thing about this trend is that it's easy to try without breaking the bank. Take a pair of scissors to an old pair or browse a thrift store or clearance rack of your favorite store to find a bargain. I found this pair for $5 at H&M and just cut and frayed them myself!
2. Find the Perfect Length
You want your jeans to hit right above the ankle, so if you're DIYing, just make sure you cut a little at a time, so you don't make them too short. If you want to purchase a pair, ASOS and H&M have some great options and the cropping is already done for you!
3. Wear the Right Shape For Your Body Type
There are many different types of flares, believe it or not. You can opt for the safe narrowed-leg flare like I'm wearing or be bold with a super wide-leg shape. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable in!
4. Pair with a Form-Fitting Shirt
You want to wear a tight shirt on top to create a balanced silhouette since most of the bulk is in your lower half. Tuck it in to accentuate your waist!
5. They Go With Any Kind of Shoe, Really
Cropped flares go with sneakers, ankle boots, slip-ons, loafers, flat sandals...the possibilities are endless which make them great for transitioning from winter to spring.
