Best Photo Editing Apps for Instagram
Instagram is one of the best social media tools to help grow your blog or brand, but it can be easy to get lost in the sea of accounts and bloggers trying to do the same thing you are. It has definitely become easier for great content to get recognition and it all starts with an eye-catching image. After a year and a half of trying out different apps and editing tools for my photos, I've narrowed down a list of 5 apps that I regularly use to edit my Instagram photos and recommend to anyone that is trying to improve their images, grow their blog or brand, or just like having a nicely curated feed.

1. AFTERLIFE ($0.99)
This app is great for beginners and is actually what I first started using when I was trying to up my gram game. I really like how precise the adjustment tools are and I always edit my images in this app first to use the brightening, exposure, and saturation tools. They also have some pretty cool filters and you can even make your own by mixing. It's totally worth the $0.99 if you plan to use it a lot, IMO!

2. VSCO (FREE)
VSCO's best feature are their filters. There are a bunch of great ones that are free, but you also have the option to purchase presets and packs and it even has a "film pack" that works within Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw. I don't really use this app for anything else besides applying a filter and sharpening. My favorite filters are A6, S2, and HB2. It used to allow you to plan out your feed, but the new update kind of ruined that. They do have a community where you can share and connect with other users which is a pretty neat component.

3. FACETUNE ($3.99)
Ever wonder how bloggers get their perfectly white walls in their outfit shots and backgrounds on their flat lays? The key is whitening tools which yes, is a thing. Facetune is marketed as an app for enhancing portraits and selfies (i.e. whitening teeth + fixing blemishes), but it works just as well on other areas such as walls, floors, tables, etc. I also like it's sharpening tool to make your photos pop and there's also a patch tool for fixing blemishes or other minor tweaks such as a stain on your shirt. The only downside with this app is that excessive editing will decrease the quality of your photo, so try not to over-edit!

4. SNAPSEED (FREE)
If I could only have one editing app out of all of these, it would be Snapseed. It's made by Google and has all the basic editing tools you need with great precision and even has a white balance tool. My favorite part is the "Selective" tool which lets you adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation on a specific area of your image. This is an alternative way to whiten your photos if you don't want to buy Facetune. It took a little while for me to figure out how to use the tools on the app, but it's easy to get the hang of. It also doesn't mess with your images quality either, so I totally recommend it!

After I edit my photos in my apps I may do some finishing touches in the Instagram app itself. The tools are pretty precise and I actually prefer its highlights and shadows tool to the other apps mentioned. It's also really nice that Instagram lets you save drafts so you can go back to it later!

I hope this post was helpful! I know there are a lot of photo editing apps on the market, but I've tried many and these are my favorite. Feel free to check out my Instagram and give me a follow if you fancy. Let me know what apps you like to use down below in the comments and if you'd like me to do more posts like this :)
