I finally got some navy into my wardrobe, which has been a color I've been eyeballing for a while now. I'm not sure why I neglected the color for so long, I think maybe because I was all about black and wasn't into pairing it with a dark blue. Well, that's obviously not the case anymore.
I mentioned this turtleneck in My February Buys which I purchased from ASOS. It's been a go-to top for work and off-duty looks, as it's super comfy and stretchy. Totally recommend it! It's still a bit chilly here and super windy (annoying) so I haven't put away my long sleeves just yet. I do have to admit I get sad when I think about putting my turtlenecks away once summer comes. But that's what seasons are for, I guess!

Ruby Auto-Curling Iron! Yes, yes, I am a total late bloomer when it comes to many things...and curling my hair is one of them. I used to straighten my hair in high school, but have since stopped to avoid damaging my hair and frankly, my hair is straight enough to begin with. Another reason is that my hair is extremely thick. I love my hair, but it can be a little high maintenance at times. Recently I thought about investing in a curling iron because I wanted to try and curl my hair. So when Irresistible Me contacted me for a product review I happily obliged!

I wanted to create a casual and cool look and this is what I came up with! It's actually inspired by Yanin from I Dress Myselff who always pulls off those casual cool vibes so effortlessly. Everything I'm wearing are old pieces, just worn in different ways! The navy and white top I bought from Ebay I believe back in high school that I cropped myself and I've had this pair of Converse since 8th grade. They are actually a bit dingy, but still have life to them. Lastly, the mom jeans were given to me by a friend and I honestly continue to love them as I pair different things with them. If you follow my blog you have seen them recently here, here, and here. You don't always need new pieces to spice up your wardrobe, you just need to experiment with what ya got.

In classic mid-Atlantic fashion, the first day of spring was cloudy and cold! I always keep my winter wear out until April, because March is known to be hot one week and freezing the next. This is actually fine with me because I still want to wear my coats and sweaters before it gets too warm. Here is an outfit I wore last week that is perfect for this weird winter to spring transitional time. All black is any basicer's uniform, and I added the camel jacket on top to give it some color.
Underneath I wore this black cropped sweater from Sammydress. I wanted a black cropped sweater for a while now and this one is perfect because it's so easy to wear and goes with everything! I've also been loving these chelsea boots I mentioned in my February Buys post. They are perfect for work and also with casual outfits, as they are super easy to just slide on and head out the door.

So I decided to start dedicating some posts to #ootd shots taken strictly with my iPhone 5s! I feel like cell phone photos can give off a more authentic perspective to personal style, which is something I think is important to stress on this blog. Fashion is super inspiring and everything, but I find more inspiration in seeing outfits that people actually wear from day to day.
This past Saturday I met up with my friend Erin for coffee and then we walked around chatting and enjoying the fresh air. I had her snap some outfit shots for me (thanks Erin, you da best!) which I intended just for my Instagram, but she got so many good shots that I had to show case them on here :) I went for something low key this day because I don't get to wear casual-wear much during the week because of work. I love these Adidas Originals leggings, as they are cute and flattering...oh, and super comfy as well! Paired them with a simple white crop top and this vintage khaki jacket I thrifted which was mentioned in my February Buys post. Finished off the look with my classic black Converses!

I often find myself in conversation with friends and coworkers about how they would never go out to eat or travel alone, live by themselves, or attend a social event without a friend or group. As human beings, we are social creatures and we crave interaction. There, however, remains a social stigma that being by yourself is a bad thing. Even though it's 2016, and ideals about relationships and living situations are much different than they were back than in the 1950s, society is still learning that it's okay to be alone.

Happy International Women's Day! I'm styling this plaid a-line skirt in collaboration with Sammydress which is unfortunately sold out! I did link a similar one down below. This outfit radiates confidence and empowerment, two things that all women should inspire themselves and other women to have! I have to admit, however, that I have struggled with confidence in certain garments, especially mini skirts. Tight fitting skirts (and clothes in general) always made me self-conscious because of "how much I was showing off," especially without wearing any tights. This ideology was burned into many young girls' brains at a very young age due to society's expectations of what females "should and should not" wear. Although I still find myself self-conscious in specific situations--when I was shooting these photos two young men in a car literally STOPPED and stared at me and then drove away. I felt violated and anxious and thought they were going to drive back and approach me. These are situations all women have to deal with on a daily basis--the feeling of inferiority, especially in certain clothing. I think as a whole, society is becoming more accepting, but there is still a lot of work to be done. At least I, personally, am more confident in myself and what I choose to wear.

I've been super inspired lately by amazing women on Instagram and I thought I would share 9 of my favorite fashion and lifestyle accounts with you all. Every post is perfect and it's hard for me not to double tap! Show these ladies some love by giving them a follow or a spam of likes :) If you are looking for more inspiration you can check out my Bloggers I've Been Loving post. I plan to do more of these because I love giving people the recognition they deserve. Let me know if you want to see more of these posts!

Wow, another month down and it's already time for another installment of My Monthly Buys! If you're new to my blog you can check out my January Buys here. In this series I'm chronicling my monthly spending on items deemed "unnecessary" aka things that don't include my rent, bills, gas, groceries, etc. It was actually a horrible financial month towards the end, as my car needed an alternator and a muffler. Luckily my parents were able to help me out since I'm still a struggling post-grad student with loans out the wa-zoo in which I am incredibly grateful for. I'm still trying to control my spending and I have to admit that I'm quite proud of myself. For one, I went into Primark and didn't buy anything! It's becoming a game for me now to go into shops and leave without anything. Is that weird? Hahah.
