My Monthly Buys? I know I've been slacking on my posting, but I guess my only excuse is quality over quantity. Anyway, I still spent a considerable amount for the month of May, even though I was saving money for my new apartment that I just moved into. Needless to say I only bought one piece of clothing last month, if a hat can even be considered clothing. The bulk of my expenditures was on furniture, which is what I was planning on putting my money towards for my new place. Naturally I picked up some beauty and skin care bits as well since this girl is always up to trying new products.
Adidas Outlet: $17
If you read this post you already know that all I've been wearing lately is baseball hats. I bought a white one from the Adidas outlet and love the fit of it. I'm still in the market for more hats, preferably in khaki! I think my hat obsession is slowly getting out of hand.
I finally got my hands on a NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ($6). I went for Stockholm because I wanted a nudey pink shade and Target didn't have Zurich, a blogger/vlogger favorite. I love the easy application and how pigmented it is. I do think it rubs off really easily when I eat, but I still love it. I will definitely be picking up some more shades! As for eyeliner, I bought this felt pen eyeliner on Ebay from a Korean brand called Etude House. Amy Vagabond actually recommended this on her Snapchat, claiming it was a Kat Von D dupe. Since I ran out of mine, I decided to try this out. I think I will do a review on this soon, because TBH I rather spend the $20 on the high end liner than this (I bought two for $10). Spoiler: it comes out almost too easy, if that makes sense, making it hard to control. I also picked up another bottle of tea tree oil ($6) at T.J. Maxx because I ran out and I like to use it on my pimples.
Since I recently moved I saved a lot of my money in April to buy new furniture and home goods. At IKEA I purchased a coffee table ($25), tv stand ($15), clothes rack ($13), some dishes, and a cutting board. I still need to buy a new desk and a couch. Fortunately my parents are helping me with funds for the couch, I just don't have a vehicle big enough to transport it home. Delivery from IKEA for the one I want costs more than the couch itself, so absurd!
T.J. Maxx: $13
I've gone six months without a yoga mat and when I finally bought this one I couldn't fathom why I waited so long. Mainly because I wanted an affordable one that was free of nasty chemicals such as PVC and phthalates. I found this one at T.J. Maxx by the brand Gaim and couldn't be happier with it. It is actually $30 on the website so I got an incredibly deal!
I haven't been to a concert/show in a longgg time and when I found out that Brand New and Modest Mouse were touring together I had to jump on it. A few Facebook messages later and my friend Katie and I ordered our tickets for lawn seating in July! I've seen Brand New 3 or 4 times, but have never seen Modest Mouse. I cannot wait!!
Total May Expenditures: $173
I actually spent just around the same amount in April, but this month my money went towards more practical things aka non-clothing items. Also, to be honest my parents helped me out a little bit with my rental deposit and like I said above, for a new couch. At my age I really don't want to keep receiving financial help from my parents, although I'm a lot more independent than I was in college. It's a slow process to get on your feet, let me tell you. Now that I'm all moved in to my new place I want to open a savings account and start saving my money for long-term goals such as traveling and retirement. Here's to fulfilling those goals!
What were some of your favorite purchases for the month of May? Is there anything in particular you want to buy this month?
