1. Start Jogging a Few Times a Week
I used to be into jogging and even ran a 5k back in 2011...which was the last time I ran up until last month. It's crazy how much time can pass when you completely avoid a certain activity. So far this year I've maintained daily workouts and really want to incorporate jogging as well. Luckily my friend Erin is into fitness, so we plan to jog together. Having a fitness buddy makes the journey so much easier!
2. Expand My Yoga Practice + Attend a Class
I've always loved yoga. I've incorporated practice into my daily routine thanks to Yoga With Adriene and her 30 Day challenges, but now have reached a point where I want to create my own structure and work on more challenging poses. I also used to take classes years ago, so I would like to start doing that again as well!
I got the whole yoga thing down, but meditation is something I never took the time to practice. I know there are many benefits to meditation, so it's definitely something I need to take 10 minutes out of my day to practice.
4. Make Smoothies
Smoothies and smoothie bowls seem to be all the rage in the blog world and Instagram! I've always loved smoothies, but unfortunately do not own a blender. I have a few on my Amazon wish list and hope to invest in one soon, or have my parents get me one for my birthday, hehe. My diet has changed a lot this year, and smoothies would be a great addition.
5. Read One Book a Month
Another goal of mine for this year was to start reading more. Since I finished graduate school, there was no excuse to not read for leisure. I mean, I used to read up to 200-300 pages a week for assignments! I recently just finished Uncle Tom's Cabin and want to finish rereading Choke by the end of this month. After that I hope to complete at least one book a month. Then I can start publishing book reviews on here!
6. Shoot Photos In New Locations
For a while now I have been comfortable shooting my outfit photos in the same locations. Erin and I have been getting together for shoots now since the weather has been warming up and it makes me so happy! I really want to explore some new places and expand my photography not just for outfit photos, but in other areas as well.
7. Post More Often
I have been averaging 1-2 posts a week I would say, but I would like to start being more consistent with my posting at 2-3 times a week. Would you guys be into that?
8. Open a Savings Account
If you have been reading My Monthly Buys then you know I am keeping track of my monthly purchases to help me create some type of budget and to just be aware of what my monthly income is going towards. I really want to start saving my money for trips and even retirement, as strange as that may sound. I'm slowly starting to think like an adult...my dad would be so proud!
9. Go to the Eye Doctor
My eyesight has definitely gotten worse since my current prescription if from 2012! I want to try contacts for the first time and get a new pair of frames (don't worry, I want to also replace the lenses on my current ones, because I still love them!)
10. Spring Cleaning
What is a spring goal list without cleaning?? I'm trying to embrace a more minimalist lifestyle and one of the things I need to do is get rid of a lot of unnecessary things in my apartment--clothes, knick-knacks, and even my old school notes and papers from the past 4 or so years of college. Like, why do I still have these? That's another post. Luckily, I should be moving out of my place at the end of April, so I will be able to do a massive clear out.
BONUS GOAL: Get a Hair Cut
I kept saying to myself that I was going to wait until spring to cut my hair short. Like shoulder length short, but now I am having reservations (as expected). I've always had an attachment to my hair and even though I want that short hair look, I still am resistant to change and letting it go. Should I cut my hair??
And now as spring is quickly approaching, it is time to stop thinking about these goals and start working towards reaching them! Do you have any goals for this spring?
