Happy February lovelies! Not a big Valentine's Day person myself, but I do love that this is the shortest month, which means we are getting closer to spring! Anyway, I wanted to do a post on an e.l.f. lip product called the Studio Matte Lip Color in "Tea Rose." I've been wearing it lately and figured I would give it a review combined with a quick outfit.
If you haven't heard of e.l.f. (eyes lip face) they are a super affordable cosmetic line that is also cruelty-free. PETA approved! I am not a proclaimed vegetarian or vegan, but I do support cheap products that are also kind to animals! This retails for only $3 on the website which you can find here and also comes in other shades. I actually purchased this specific color at T.J. Maxx where it was $2.39 I believe, so I got a little deal on it. A few shades are out of stock on the e.l.f. web site, so I definitely suggest checking out your local T.J. Maxx or Marshall's if there is one near you. They always carry the same products the major stores do, and are always cheaper!

I'm a bit of a lipstick noob and am still getting used to the feeling of it on my lips not only when I eat and drink, but just in general! I felt this color was safe to start my transition into lipstick land. I have worn a bright shade of red before, but wanted to try a more neutral shade that makes me feel a little more comfortable. My life doesn't consist of important meetings or a bustling night life--I'm a student and work in a library! I wanted something I can wear everyday without being OTT and this color definitely fits the bill. I also love that its in the form of a crayon/pen as it is a lot easier for me to apply. With an even application and smooth finish, I love how creamy and matte it is...and there is actually a sharpener at the bottom of it which I had no idea until I read the online reviews. For only $3 this is a great product and I definitely want to try other colors!
For this look I just paired a black band tee with the thrifted shorts from my last post, and a flannel. Pretty simple and casual! Also added my rose stud earrings which I love (goes with the whole tea rose thing too, ha!) I feel like the earrings and pink in the flannel went well with the lip color. Since it's winter I just had some thick tights on underneath and would pair it with my ASOS ankle booties. In the warmer months I can ditch the tights and add some knee highs and tie the flannel around my waist. Totally me!
