Happy New Year! I'm a little late, yeah. I was originally going to do one of these posts and then NYE came...this past week happened...and I've just been taking a mental break. After reviewing so many other blogs that did this, I told myself why not? Finish what you started, Sheila! I'm a student of History so naturally I am interested in change over time. What better way to explore that than with my own style. The weather has been uninspiring so I haven't been able to get a photo session in so here is this to kick off the new year. I did a recap post for 2013 which you can view here.
Last year I also made a 'resolution' to style blog and stick to it. Before I would occasionally post outfits, but had zero traffic. This past year I took the blog world seriously and so much has happened! All the feedback on my last post has been insane, thank you so much! I appreciate all of you and your kind words, it truly keeps me going. Last year I did more of an in-depth life recap, but this year I'm going to leave the personal details out and just stick to my style! I divided it up by season and provided links to the original post so lets get started.
This past winter was known as the bitter "polar vortex" when temperatures were literally.the.worst. Layers upon layers were necessary as I tried to brave the cold. Most of the photos I chose for this post are when it was more mild out...Can tell you that I hated dressing for below zero temps?? So far it hasn't been that bad but now that it's January (my least favorite month) we already have snow today and wind chills in the single digits.
I love spring. That feeling of warmth and sunshine after months of freezing my a** off is truly amazing. It stays pretty cold until mid to late April (just in time for my birthday!) so tights and knee-high socks came into play a bit.
I embraced the lose short this summer and tried to figure out how I survived the past 20 or so years of hella hot temperatures. I miss it so much right now, obviously!
Fall...everyone's favorite season. The plaid, transition pieces, dark colors...love it all year round but there's just something about the leaves changing and temperatures dipping. I usually skip the pumpkin spiced lattes or whatever, nothing can beat my iced coffee!
Style changes every second, hour, day, etc. Mine has definitely changed a bit over this past year and I can say I am where I have always wanted to be, if that makes sense. I have molded a personal style out of all the inspiration (I might even call it studying) of all the bloggers, Youtubers, street style photos, and elements I see and feel everyday. As I review all these looks it's clear I love black...plaid...floral...stripes. They are just my staples and I don't see myself letting them go so I hope you don't either :)
I love the blogging world. It really allows an individual to express themselves and allow for growth. The feedback I have received from you all over this whole year has been amazing as well. With that said I want to obviously continue with outfit posts, but I want to try and incorporate other things. I'm not sure what, really, so I am here asking for, you guessed it--YOUR feedback! Please let me know what you would like to see! I have small ideas in my head, but if I know it is in demand it will push me further to execute them.
I'm excited for 2015, as I am sure we all are. There is just something motivational about a new calendar year, a fresh start. Here's to a stylish year!
