Urbandonment

January 2, 2014

Sweater: via mother //  Flannel: thrifted // Shorts: Lee, via mother // Shoes: Keds, Ebay

This outfit just kind of happened and I went with it. I visited my boyfriend who is currently 3 hours from me (I'm at home with my parents right now). I always try to only pack a duffel bag of clothes. Packing is usually a struggle for me--I am the kind of person that can't specifically plan outfits in advance...so packing for an out of town trip can be daunting sometimes. I can only imagine the pain I would endure attempting to pack for a month long trip! For my trip home for the holidays I packed a huge suitcase and duffel bag, on top of my backpack, laptop case, and laundry. So why the struggle? As mentioned, I can't plan outfits in advance. They have to be crafted based upon how I am feeling on that day and what I am doing. On this weekend trip I ended up packing rather light, but by the third day I was upset, thinking I hadn't packed enough! After experimenting with the remaining pieces I did have, I actually came up with a pretty cool outfit (imo). Sometimes the best outfits are the ones that are entirely unexpected!

Lastly, I entitled this post "Urbandonment" because of the urban vibe in this photos and also because it is a Hatsune Miku song. If you don't know who Hatsune Miku is...well she/it is a "humaniod persona voiced with a singing synthesizer"...basically a computerized musical artist with a HUGE following! Apparently Japanese people love her and she even has concerts as a holographic image lol! I found out about Hatsune because my boyfriend's friend brought over a PS3 rhythm game called Project Diva that is sort of like guitar hero, without the guitar. It took me a few days to actually understand how to play and score big and once I did I became OBSESSED. J-Pop and K-Pop are becoming a new favorite of mine (not a guilty pleasure--why feel ashamed!)

Have a great weekend! We're experiencing a big snow storm tonight and tomorrow it's apparently going to be the coldest it's been in about 3 years...negative degree wind chills. The "North East Blizzard" as they are calling it. Thankfully I have tomorrow off and will most likely stay inside wrapped up in layers and sweaters watching Full House and Seinfeld episodes in my room.
